Over the last week I’ve had the opportunity to intern with IdeaSquares in Bristol, who provide automated tools and support programmes for crowdfunding success. I’m looking forward to reflecting on the experience when I’m finished, but at this point I’m excited to promote some of the brilliant businesses I’m lucky enough to be working with.
This June, in an attempt to showcase entrepreneurship in the South West, IdeaSquares plan to launch ten start-ups on Crowdcube through a project titled “Crowd 10 South West”. Crowdcube is an equity crowdfunding platform therefore individuals have the opportunity to invest from as little at £10 in return for a stake in the business.
The 10 finalists, having been chosen from around 70 applicants, are as follows:
LUX Rewards is an app that allows you to earn rewards by dining in high end restaurants. LUX have teamed with Red Letter Days meaning a business lunch could result in a helicopter ride!
CEO of LUX Rewards is University of Bath student, James who is currently doing his placement at The University of Bath Innovation Centre!
A mindfulness and wellbeing App that increases focus, reduces stress and aids relaxation by encouraging synchronisation of breathing with your heart rate.
This Mum Runs
An organiser of social runs for mums. It’s open to runners of all abilities and runs are planned to fit around the busy schedule of parents.
ESole have designed an insole fitted with a GPS tracker for those who suffer with dementia and have a high propensity to get lost.
A tailor-made web app which makes managing and administering co-working spaces simpler, as well as keeping co-workers connected.
An app that changes the way DJs discover, organise and communicate music. They currently have over 50,000 tracks recommended across 77 different countries and are supported by globally recognised DJs.
The Chocolate Bear Kitchen
A pop up restaurant providing an inclusive dining experience by catering for a wide range of dietary requirements and preferences on the one menu.
A range of all natural hair care products for curly hair which offer a safer, healthier alternative to hair relaxants traditionally used to tame the frizz.
Local Vets aim to give smaller veterinary practices their own platform enabling them to compete with corporations by building a community of independent, locally owned vets.
Apps 4 Arts
A self-publishing platform which makes it simple and affordable for multi-venue festivals to create their own event guide app.
All of these businesses will be launching very soon on Crowdcube and if you’ve ever considered investing in a start-up this is a great opportunity! The finalists have been through a thorough selection process and have since had extensive training and support from IdeaSquares.
